Apex’s Tom Johnson To Run Warwick Half Marathon to Raise £2000 For The Luca Foundation

Tom Johnson, one of Apex’s super star Sales Consultants will run the Warwick Half Marathon on 4th February 2024, to raise £2000 for The Luca Foundation.  The money will buy a cooling cuddle cot, a unique device that allows grieving parents to spend time with their baby who has died.   This precious opportunity allows them to form a bond with their baby & help them in dealing with their loss.

After completing a half marathon several years ago Tom vowed, “I will never run again!”  However, after meeting Sharon Luca-Chatha, Founder of The Luca Foundation, the cause has brought him out of running retirement.

Tom explains;

“I met Sharon at a Business Event. She told her story.  It was simply so powerful & it struck a cord with me.  Sharon advised a cooling cuddle cot costs £2,000.  So, there it was, my fundraising target!  £2,000 for one new cuddle cot to place in a maternity unit”.

The Luca Foundation was set up in memory of Luca, who was stillborn in June 2012.  Sharon & Jas, Luca’s mummy & daddy were beyond devasted.  Their world had collapsed.  Another huge blow came when they realised the limited time they had to hand him over, knowing they would never see him again.  Had they had a cold cuddle cot, they could have stayed with Luca for up to two more days.

The charity ensures every bereaved parent has extra time with their child to say their goodbyes over days rather than hours. This ‘gift of time’ can only be achieved with working cooling cuddle cots.  Hence, the charity actively ensure cots are available across the UK, in maternity units, NICU wards & Paediatric wards.

They do not pay salaries from the charity, all funds raised go to the cause & this vital equipment.  Whilst the government do not deem the provision of cots as vital medical equipment, The Luca Foundation absolutely does.  And therefore they are making this happen!
