Cheshire Without Abuse 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner
CWA certainly celebrated their 40th Anniversary in style! On Friday 17th November at Crewe Hall Hotel, Cheshire, over 120 guests attended the CWA Gala Dinner. Apex’s Service Manager, Phil & Commercial Manager, Debbie, loved being part of the festivities, & were especially proud to win an award!
With drinks on arrival, guests also enjoyed a superb three course dinner. Entertainment throughout the night included magician Steve Turnbull, a raffle & auction, & for those who wanted to dance the night away, live band Wayne and the Hairy Peaches played. Photographer Richard Linnett was also on hand to capture the memorable moments.
CWA Chief Executive, Saskia Ritchie, delivered a heart-warming speech, reminding everyone of just how far the charity has come over the years & reiterating the importance of their work. She thanked her team, & presented some special awards to supporters of the charity, including Apex!
Debbie Snelson comments;
As our 2017 Charity of the Year, as soon as Sharon Malkin-Blackburn, CWA Funding and Fundraising Manager, notified us of the event, we agreed to take a table & donate a spa day as a raffle prize. In addition, when Sharon asked if I knew anyone who could help with guest invites & place cards I jumped at the opportunity to make them. What better reason to get creative?!
The proudest moment of my night though, was being presented on behalf of Apex, with the “CWA Commitment Award 2017”, for New Business Commitment to the Organisation. It was such a surprise! We love supporting this charity, & it’s good to know they like what Apex are doing for them.
We are just sorry that our MD Chris Hutchings couldn’t join us. However, he was commencing a climb of the Atlas Mountains to contribute to our bid of raising £4,000 for CWA to support the costs of refurbishing crisis accommodation. So, a good enough reason not to be there we think!
The evening was a resounding success & CWA raised more than £3,700. All proceeds will go towards supporting victims of domestic abuse to work towards a brighter future.
